The item is not black but a very dark chocolate brown. It could pass as black and so will look great with a variety of shades of outfit. I actually think that by being that shade and not pure black, it looks more sophisticated and better quality and so looks more expensive than in the picture - the picture doesn't do it justice...Bonus! Also love the unusual futuristic minimalist style
